I have notebook HP Pavilion dv6870ew. It had Vista. I've removed vista and installed XP.
Even if on official HP website are drivest for xp, there are only few of them, and I still have several stuff not working here... sound driver for example.
Anyone knows what to do?

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHO DECIDED IT WAS A SMART IDEA TO NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO EDIT THEIR SIGNATURE BEYOND ONE LETTER!?!?!?!?!
After the scan, click "Full Details" or whatever and you'll get a report of the drivers you have that are bad. You have to buy a subscription to download the drivers from the site, but the report will at least let you know which drivers you are missing.
Hope this helps.

Well... depends what do you understand by saying "work best with". If you think about easy providing drivers and support under Vista by laptop manufacturer then you're right. Finding drivers on HP sites is hard, cos you can get them only finding thru older models, comparing hardware and searching xp drivers...
But if you think about efficiency of work, then you're wrog, at least in HP case.
I've managed to install XP on my Vista designed HP laptop. It required bit of "brutal" methods of diver installing but now, my system needs less than minute to start up (under vista it tooked about 5 mins), switching between pulpit and apps does not takes ages, older games work perfectly, all apps needs less time to start up, and even games work better: I could not even dream of running Mass Effect under Vista, and now it runs smooth under XP on medium settings.
Only con of XP is that it does not looks so pretty. But even when I had Vista I've turned off all graphic enchancments to make it work better.
So in my case XP is way better than Vista, even if laptop is designed "for Vista".
